1880 S Morgan VAM #?

nwcsnwcs Posts: 13,386 ✭✭✭
I'm very new to Morgan VAMS, just getting started. Went to their web site (VAMLINK) and didn't see this one listed. I have two PL 1880-S morgans. One has a large S mintmark and one a smaller one. Quite a significant size differential. Can anyone tell me about these varieties? Thanks!

1880-S used 2 different MM sizes, medium and very large. It appears you have one of each. That info is on the VAMlink website located under articles, San Francisco MMs.

There are at least seventy (70) different varieties for the 1880-S; the majority are minor doubled dates and mintmarks.

Vam 10, (0/9) should bring a substantial premium; Vam 8, 9 (80/79) and Vam 11 (0/9) a modest premium. Vam 12 is not very prominent and fairly common, as are the two size mintmarks.
