Home U.S. Coin Forum

If you ask me a question, I'll always answer.

To those of you who have asked me questions in the midst of threads, rather than through private messages - I always try to answer. But, sometimes I don't see all of the questions in the threads, particularly when I travel to coin shows and try to play catch up at night (if I have my laptop with me) or when I return (if I don't).

So, if you ever ask me a question and don't receive a reply, please feel free to send me a PM. I promise to answer as soon as I can.

Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii?

That's the first question I asked myself as I was driving from the airport to Waikiki... It doesn't make any sense whatsoever!

Mark, a serious question, do you only do buys for people on bigger budgets, or would you be open to scouting around for <$100 coins for people like me? One other member even mentioned something interesting. A pre-layaway concept. Where (for example) I would send you a set amount of money every month and my wish list. And when you found an excellent example on the wish list, you'd just take the money out of the pre-layaway and send it along to me. What do you think of that type of arrangement?
  • Interstate highways in Hawaii get federal funding. All others get none or little federal assistance. Same goes for Alaska. Although some of you believe there is an underwater bridge connecting Hawaii with the mainland, it simply isn't true.

    Truth,

I believe that it is impossible for anything containing matter (you do have matter, don't you) to travel at the speed of light, and therefore travel through the universe. You also could never theoretically reach the end of the universe since it is constantly expanding at a rapid rate.

One day when the universe implodes, time will reverse and you will be able to visit the mint in 1892 and purchase proof gold coins at little over face value however. Hope that helps.

    g097103,

The force of the impact @ 1200 fps from that distance will cause Mr. Hagars body massive internal injuries and would more than likely shatter his entire skeletal structure resulting in immediate death.

    TheNumish,

It is highly unlikely that there are any hot dog stands outside of the planet earth. A hot dog stand at the fringes of the universe also would not be a good business due to a lack of oxygen and gravity and the extreme distance from earth making currency exchange rates very hard to keep track of. Hope this helps.

I was walking along the Jersey shore the other day and I came across 6 Accugreed dealers buried up to their waist in the sand. What does that mean?

6 Accugreed dealers half buried in sand? Time to get more sand.

6 Accugreed dealers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.

    Some additional replies by coinguy1:

Dan, I think your questions "Why do we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway ???" assume facts not in evidence (sorry, it's my legal background). I park in the garage most of the time. But, when I do park on the driveway it's because my wife is hogging the garage (sorry dear)! As to driving on a parkway - I think it's more like speeding on a parkway.

EVP - in answer to your question about when the economy will turn around - probably as soon as you spend all of your available funds on rare coins.

Truth - thanks for answering the questions about interstate highways in Hawaii. You are now officially my answer assistant and get 99% of what I earn for answering these questions.

NWCS - see my PM to you in answer to your question.

go97013/Scott - in answer to your question about Alan Hagar - that was an easy one - no impact, which is what I wish for that of his grading service in the marketplace.

PhillyJoe - in answer to your question - it means that the dealers weren't burried deeply enough image I see that JLW and halfnut agree. Perhaps halfnut is more aptly named nonut.

rkfish - you are right about my having opened a can of worms with my post but at least people are having fun instead of fighting. Still, I hereby officially amend my offer to answer questions only about coins!

    Thanks for the entertainment guys!

.......x times y minus 200 is not equal to the weight of 1200 if moving thru the air before hitting the wall, however if inpact is not restricked due to any other movement, then you would minus the 200 and change the y to a t...with all this said, i still have no idea what iam talking about.

But since the universe also contians matter it can not travel faster than the speed of light either. So all you have to do is travel faster than the universe is expanding and you will eventually get to the edge. Of course it will take tens of billions of years. .......................well said, there is no such thing a nothing. even the space between the atoms there is something. it is called dark matter. it is a material that keeps the atoms though not equal in energy within their given space, to what they controll and their function to time and space.. although not fully understood at this time. theory applies that if controlled within that element, natural, or otherwise, it would be possible to rearange the elements to whatever distance focal point we would want, in other words, when we learn to controll the space {dark matter }within that time space.... what we think of as light years away, could become just a few steps away.

RGL - I don't have an answer for your question

<< <i>Why does PCGS undergrade all of my coins and overgrade every coin I do not own? Just wondering >>

but I do have something even better - a solution. Just swap coins with people, have them submit yours for grading and then swap back.image
