I'm with Russ on this one. Are those colors real? I've never seen anything quite like it on a buff although I've seen many Jeffs toned with those colors. Having said that, that doesn't necessarily mean the color's not real.

I really know just about zero about colorful toning and how to tell AT from real, but I was thinking that it looks a lot like some of the stuff that this guy sells.

I can't say whether it is AT or natural for sure but I can't remember seeing Buffs with that toning before. Usually they are a more muted toning and not quite so wild. I like the golden ones the best.

You don't have to be sorry because PCGS thinks the colors are real. I'm no Buffalo nickel expert but it is a gorgeous coin.

I had this buffalo recently, and I would say the pattern of the tone was very similar. My photo doesn't show up as "bright" as the coin above, but very similar in toning pattern. Kind of a goldish,purplish, maroonish blend. My coin was also certified by pcgs, and I think mine was real. The photo of the buffalo above does seem a bit neonish, whether or not that is manipulated, I'm not sure.

The opinion of PCGS carries far more weight than MHO! Neat coin with very unusual colors.....should fetch a decent return.

Did he play with the colors? Looks like it is in a PCGS slab- but slabs were never dark blue (unless... O CONDER!!!)

for me the coin and its toning is real and there are many tell tail signs ......... i mean the buffalo here is fully original and has many signs like this coin BUT THE PROBLEM IS THE SCAN NOT THE COIN!!!!!!!!

but yes the scan could be much better i bet that if you saw this coin in person it would be awesome and would be different from the scan shown but still awesome and fully original

that is why i do not like scans for toned coins it is really difficult to do and even if done well really doesnot show the coins real look
