Was on ESPN radio and says he will be at the Laker and Spurs game on opening night as a guest of Shaq. Some of what he said... I would do any thing on this earth to get a chance to play with Shaq and Kobe. Q: Where would u play? A: anywhere Phil wanted me to, he has coached Jordan and Kobe, 2 of the greatest players ever. I pray everynight that I will be a Laker. Phil is such a great teacher I would love to learn from him.

    Maybe the Lakers can trade for the #1 pick, although that might be pricey. I think that Lebron (or his agent) is being smart by bringing up the issue a year early since the Lakers will probably make a move early if they're actually interested. The only thing that might go wrong is that he could have thrown a poison pill into the mix by accident and made other teams scared to draft him.

    man if lebron really wanted to be a laker you better start believing it will happen. Kobe wanted to be a laker and guess what happend? If the lakers could trade vlade divac for kobe without making it seem like it wasn't planned .....then they could trade slava, fox, and a first round pick for lebron easily. Kobe and lebron would be like jordan and pippen, but double time. Lebron is a big kobe fan so don't be surprised if the kid gets his wishes.

    If you think anything even resembling that trade would go down, you haven't followed the NBA for a game in your life. James is the most highly regarded draft pick since Tim Duncan, he will NOT get traded. He will end up in Denver after they win 4-5 games this year.

I know you remember 12 players selected before kobe right? I wasn't saying slava and fox could really be traded for lebron, but don't be surprised when lebron becomes a laker.     Kobe wasnt as hyped as James is he will not be a laker its as simple as that. Teams with the #1 pick will want kobe for the pick. Simple as that

    or shaq vittle. After the 4-peat if it happens shaq will not be playing much longer. I'm not saying lebron will be a laker on draft day, but sooner or later if he still wants it he will get it when his contract runs up and shaq retires in about 4-5 years. That will hit kobe in his prime and lebron would be perfect then.

    Sorry man, as much as you and many other Laker fans would want to see king james in a lakers uniform, it's not going to happen. A team that would draft him would want a ton for this guy, he's going to be an allstar the second he steps on a NBA court. He will be a Nugget or go to the Cavs who are trying to throw the season so they can draft this kid. James would play for the Cavs 100%, already practiced with them so he won't have a problem playing with D Miles.

    KObe was very lightly regarded when he came out, getting Vlade, a proven center for an unknown high schooler was seen as a stealk for the Hornets at the time. James is far more highly regarded, it would take a king's ransom to get it. Shaq wanted to go to LA, and you guys got lucky on Kobe, but don't get out of hand.

    freak, i have to disagree with you on one point. kobe was hardly an unknown high school player at the time..he was actually the National High School Player of the Year that year

    kobe was also the gatoraide player of the year and the naismith player of the year and he also lead his team to the state title avg 35ppg. If you really think kobe was unknown back in high school you are out of your mind. Kobe wanted to be a laker and believe me.............HE WANTED TO BE LAKER AND HE GOT IT. There was no luck about it. Vince carder.........laker fans could careless where lebron went, but if he wanted to be in a laker uniform by the time shaq retires ...believe me it will happen. Lebron just has to pay his dues on a crappy team for 3-4 years..by that time his contract will run up making him a free agent and the lakers will have enough money by then to sign lebron.

    Kobe was not an unknown, but drafting high school guys was far less commonplace then, and he was not NEARLY as highly regarded as James is now. How old were you when Kobe was drafted? 10? 11? I don't mean that as an insult, I'm just saying maybe you don't remember what it was like.

    actually I do remember what it was like. I remember just hearing his name and knowing he was something special. I actually was playing tecmo super bowl on nintendo while watching the draft with friends. Kevin garnett was drafted outta high school like the year before.......anyways........kobe was well known espeacially by jerry west who said....the workout with kobe was one of the best workouts he's ever seen o a player...... don't think kobe was drafted 13th by pure luck.

    It was directed at nikobe, I know he's one of the younger guys on here. Wasn't meant as an insult, it's just important to remember that Kobe's been in the league six years now (!) and for someone whose 16-17 (Like many on here) that would be hard to remember.

    First off Lebron will be a RESTRICTED free agent after his first 3-4 years and unless the Lakers can pay OVER the maximum (impossible) Lebron won't be a Laker anytime soon (unless they wanna give up a KOBE like player)... also Kobe was the #1 h.s. player which meant, about jack $hit in 96... Qyntel Woods averaged 30+ at C.C. which is as good competition as high school and he went 21st, so averaging 30+ doesn't mean anything in high school or C.C.

    so whys lebron all hyped up then? he didn't do anything kobe didn't, but some awards, kobe lead his team to the state title atleast......lebron lost this year. Lebron isn't even averaging 30-35ppg so whys he the chosen 1? Please..........

    You're forgetting that a big reason the Lakers traded for KObe was not because they were sure he'd be great, but because they wanted to clear Divac's salary to free room for Shaq. Kobe was projected to go 10-25 when he was drafted, he went fairly high and the Lakers lucked out. It's not like teams were clamoring for him, after all he was drafted after such studs as Lorenzen Wright and Todd Fuller.

    the only reason he went that low is because in 96 teams still werent sure about drafting players out of high school. If kobe had come out 3 years later he would have been the no. 1 pick. Jeery west did know he would be great after he had kobe play one 1 on 1 w/ michael cooper before the draft I believe. Cooper was a great defender in the nba and kobe did pretty well against him.
