    What does "specimen" mean? I know what it means normally, but why is it on the coin. I mean, isn't every coin a specimen?

    "Specimen" is a term NGC will use for "SMS" (Special Mint Set).

    There was another NGC SMS70 Kennedy offered with a BIN of $700.00.
    yesterday, but I don't know if it's still available.

    Remember too that NGC considers this Kennedy a "Proof" coin while PCGS believes it is MintState.

    Yes, but only one. And, it happened to be a 1998 SMS Kennedy. Every other 70 I've seen was not flawless by any stretch of the imagination.

    Well, having seen MS70 and MS69 coins, I guess I'm ignorant as to what the actual difference is - unless it's the type of coin that reaches out from the slab, slaps you around and makes you feel cheap image

    Anyway, In my book, I'd rather pay $300 or even less for an MS69 1998S than 1K and not really know what the difference is.

    When I saw the one and only real 70 I've had the chance to view, I was lucky enough to be able to compare it side-by-side with a 69 graded version of the same coin (98 SMS). The 70 did reach out and slap me. The strike was clearly stonger, and the surfaces so satiny, they looked like an expensive pillow.

    Russ - When the time comes to sell my JFK Pr set, you will see Flawless PR-70 coins in

    great abundance in the set. They were selected from several hundred PR-70 coins over the years.

    the sms PCGS slabs dont pull a grand, what makes this clown think an NGC one will.

    I traded my PCGS MS70 for my 55/55 image

    THAT WAS WORTH IT.

    and may I mention my example appeared to be first off the coining press.
