Problem. (PR frank)

I got a nice, cheap proof franklin earlier this year and it has a good shot at cam, except for what looks like paint on a section of the back. Any suggestions? Dipping? Sending in to be dipped? Or should I just leave it be? Thanks in advance. image

What year is it? If it's a common date it may not be worth it for you. Do you have a scan of the coin?

Is the "paint" white? If so, it's a milk spot. Milk spots rarely will dip off of proof coinage. NCS can dramatically reduce the spot, but probably not remove it completely.

  • Common date (63), and it doesn't have as good of a shot at cam as I had remembered, but it would still be much more attractive to me without the spots, and it does have a little cam that's blotched by these. These spots don't look like the carbon spots that I'm used to (bluish-white, semi-transparent), it almost looks like someone dropped small bits of acrylic paint on it or something. I may be wrong though.
