Found 40% silver half today

I went ahead and bought the two halves I saw in the cashier's desk and she handed me one bicentennial and one 1969D Kennedy with NICE rim toning. I would post pic but no scanner. It's not a monster by any means but to find it out of change the toning (and the silver for that matter) is pretty nice. Not too long ago I found 4 silver dimes in a circ roll. I have good luck finding this stuff.

Good catch.. Was getting change together to buy stamps for mailing off a payment for a new half I bought on line and found a silver 1964 Washington Quarter in my pocket change. I love it when that happens, even though I dont collect them. Dunno, simple pleasures for simple minds? you tell me. Kris

I spent a Sac buck today... my secretary didn't want to "take it from me". I explained I am one of the few who spend these.

Every once in awhile I exchange the bills for a roll just to spend them. I guess that ticks some people off but frankly I don't care, I LIKE DOLLAR COINS! It would be nice if they replaced both the 1 and 5 with coins, maybe even put some silver in the 5. But they can't make both, it's a waste of money to make both because we know which will want to be used.

Anyway, I don't know either why we collectors get excited over silver, besides the fact that it's an all too welcome change in pocket change. I've heard of some people (I think LordM found some in some half rolls awhile back) that have found proofs in change, that I would really get excited over. Who would spend a proof anyhow?!

I have seen a proof franklin half spent once. I was 15 and working at a convenient store and someone spent that and some JFKs (1 90% and rest 40%). I was able to get the JFKs from the cashier but she wouldn't let me take the franklin! Argh, I was very upset that evening! Then not long after another cashier there showed me a walking lib someone spent that day! ARGH again!!
