Check out and give me a grade on this 1901 IHC

I picked this up today at our local fall coin show. I found it in the half off bin on one of the dealers tables. It pretty nice it hasent been cleaned there NO hair lines and the toning is kinda light pinkish with a bit of blue on it. And I can actually see the diamonds on the ribbion.

So ok here goes I want you to give me a grade or what you think it will grade to. Also how about a value for this coin.

Ill let it go for a couple of days and then I will come back and let you know how much I picked it up for.

Ok about the pinkish color it isnt pinkish after all it would help if i shut the blinds the sun is going down and the window is right behind me so i got the color of the light from the sun OOPS.. The actual color is a very nice Light tan with kinda a hint of the orginal color showing with a hint of blue in a few spots

My first reaction was cleaned, nice strike. When you said pinkish coloring, that cinched it for me. The pink color usually arises after a cleaning. The usual caveat goes here, it's just a guess without having it in my hand.

IrishMike is quite right. The color indicates a dip of some kind.A coin doesn't always have to show hairlines to have been dipped.IMHO

Tough call based on the picture - which is in and out of focus. Details look mint state, but there appear to be some nicks on the A and maybe some other letters of STATES. Also, the surface looks "strange" between the STATES and OF and on other parts of the obverse.

On the reverse the shield, and parts of ONE and CENT appear to have dings also.

Copper is tough to evaluate on toning without an excellent picture - the one posted is not good enough to evaluate with confidence. Also, the whole picture needs to be in focus.

So, based on just the pictures, AU55 or better (doesn't tell you much, does it) - but I'm not going to jump to conclusions about the toning based on the posted pictures.
  • just a guess....

  • As soon as the picture showed up, my instant reaction was a dip. Otherwise I think it might go 63/64 RB.

I going to go out on a limb and say AU55+

looks like some wear on the feathers and on the highest points on the reverse.
