9/11: Remember tommorrow: Minute of silence at 8:45am

Lets remember the fallen heroes and victims of 9/11 tommorrow. I saw a proposed minute of silence
on the news for tommorrow at 8:45AM. Lets say a prayer for our fallen comrades who died in the cause of liberty and for those who continue to defend our great nation from the cowardly forces of evil.
Lets also remember that we live in a nation that gives us the collecting freedom that we take for granted
every day. Lets also take a second look at our favorite coin. I bet what ever that series is, it represents
this nation and what we stand for. I just looked at a Walker and it cannot be more clear to me.

God Bless America,

Brian

The Sorrow and Grief that was brough upon Our Nations people Should and Hopefully never be forgotton. A moment of Silence is the Least we can do for the Victims and thier loved ones and IMO should be observed in Future years to come.

At work, we are having a memorial service that will be attended by roughly 1,000 people. The rest of the base will observe a moment of silence at 0746 (Central).

I will be silent at that time (I will be in bed). We are having our moment of silence at work a little later when everyone is there.

Ironically, it was this board that I first heard about it last year. I got up and checked the board (is that bad or what?), and there were a couple of threads. Turned on the TV to see what happened and the got to have a 6 month unpaid vacation because of it.

  • We'll have a moment of silence at work as well - but while we all do that, let's also be thankful for our own health, families and loved ones.

I will be thinking of last year all day, not just at 8:45, but I will take a special moment of silence at 8:45.

  • I suspect I'll be having a moment of anger about that time. The job's not yet finished.

  • I saw the second tower get hit and both towers fall, from my office window. I will remember tomorrow, the next day and for the rest of my life....and Oh yea, I've been thinking of what I saw almost everyday since then and I will be thinking of it and all those poor souls tomorrow as well. We should not rest until everyone of those murderers and ALL of their followers are removed from this planet. They are nothing more than NAZI's hiding behind religion.....I've said enough.....

  • Well, I will most likely be asleep still at 8:45 Est. but I do plan on flying my flag tomorrow, and I may even drag out my Culpepper Minutemen Flag as well (that always ticks off the more liberal neighbors). I worked on the 100th floor of 2 WTC in 1993 and 1994, and I lived right across the river in Jersey City until 97. I am just glad I wasn't there to see it in person.

As for looking at a patriotic coin, I can think of no coin more patriotic that Augustus Saint-Gaudens rendition of Liberty holding an olive branch and a torch raised high over our nation's capitol.
  • Today 9/11/02. We as Americans should stand tall and remember our fallen Americans. Also we need to pray for all the loveones lost on 9-11. We will never forget. So tomorrow please try to be on your best behavior and remember that America stands for One and All...

  • Amen to that, may their souls be blessed and their deaths never be forgotten. I'll also be saying a word in hope of seeing their murderers burn in the hottest part of hell for all eternity, and to see their POS religion, Islam, eliminated from the face of this planet.

Our company is having a moment of silence at 9 this morning. I'll never forget last year. My cousin was in the first floor of WTC when it was hit, so she got out fine. A friend's cousin works in the Pentagon and stepped out to another part of the building right before the plane hit because he forgot to bring some papers to a meeting. It changed a lot of things. I didn't have a 6 month "vacation" but only around 7 weeks.

As for a coin, I like the depiction of any eagle with an olive branch and arrows. Symbolizing the character of the nation with the desire for peace first, but the resolve in war second. My favorite rendition of this is the reverse of the JFK half followed by the Morgan reverse.

    dbldie,

i remember exactly where i was last year when i first heard the news (it would have been about 9:00 NY time) - and remembered it at that spot this morning on my walk in to work. i just got the walk signal under the el at wells/randolph when the traffic cop signalled me to come over. he told me i might wanna check the news when i get to work because a jet just ran into the WTC (since we're in the shadow of the sears tower i guess). i looked at him like he was insane and said alright. i didn't know if he was joking or confused or what.

Yeah, I remember when I heard it. I was at my last job and was having a conversation with someone when our marketing person ran back and was acting like she had a joke to tell (which she did often). She said her ex-boyfriend called her from NY about it (this is before the 2nd plane) and I didn't believe her. Just seemed too incredible. Went on all the news sites I could and found they were all busy which made me wonder. Checked the wireless web and read the news (wireless sites are never busy). We had a TV in the basement at work so we all gathered down there right after the second plane hit and before the first collapse.

Sure was a surreal day. I suppose we'll be asked by future generations about that day. Like when my history teacher in 7th grade asked us to ask adults about where they were when JFK died. Same type of deal.
