How many of you are "coin stalkers"!!

You know what I mean. You go to a show, see a neat coin in a dealer's case, come back 5 or 6 times, pick it up, look at it over and over again, not buy it, it gets sold to another dealer, then you go to his case 5 or 6 times, etc.

Not I. When I see a piece I really want, I try to figure out a way to buy it even if the price is pretty stiff. Walking away from a coin you really want is a good way to experience 'passer's remorse'.

I stalked a Barber Quarter once, the darn thing went and got a court order making me keep at least 100 feet away. I hate uppity Barber Quarters. Bear

I don't "stalk" coins. I'm with GSA, if I like it, I buy it.

Nope lost too many coins that way, I see one it grabs me, won't let go I'm gonna buy it. I haven't regreted one coin purchase done that way, but I can give you a long list of the ones that got away.

I did that once. This year at ANA. I saw a beautiful 1935-D MS66 Washington for $1500. I hadnt planned on purchasing another coin of the value at the show (I did buy a 1932S MS64.. really PQ for a little more).

The first time I saw it, I like it .. picked it up and put it back. The second time I saw it (later in the day) I picked... talked more about it.. looked at it some more.. and decided I would sleep on it.

I went back for it 2 days later and it was gone. Needless to say. I was bummed and still am. I should have bought it right there.

Whenever I walk onto the floor of the bourse I hear voices. Sometimes they whisper to me- other times they are screaming profanities. (It is usually the ACG stuff that is yelling the loudest.)

Some coins sweet talk me. Those are the ones I'm drawn to.
Recently I had a Rainbow toned silver eagle kindly state to me, "Hey there. I've been waiting for you my whole life. Of course, I was born (minted) in 1999, so that hasn't been that terribly long, but please don't leave this coin show without me. Now, see that grumpy 'ol Dealer behind me? He's going to want to see some cash first, but trust me. Pay his price- I'm worth it". Of course I never talk back (what? You think I'm nuts?!), but I end up paying the "Man" and walking off with my prize.
