hockey is dead. quarter book for game used isn't a steal. If you like the card then fine, but
if you plan on turning a huge profit on it you can forget it! I have plenty of good hockey
    that I can't give away.

    Good Luck at the show

All depends on where you live. Hockey hobby to me is a regional sport (hot in hockey cities and Canada).

well it is...do you ever sell anything on ebay for more than thrid book?? The hockey fans
on ebay are so cheap, you put up a multi-color triple jersey that "books" for 400 and
they email you and ask if they can have it for 40 bucks!

The only thing that hasn't gone down in hockey is the price of packs!

  • Hmph... I guess the era of single-player collectors outpricing each other to ungodly levels for every single card they can get their hands on is over? That IS a shock image

yeah, I know that you can turn nice profits on baseball, football and basketball, but
hockey just seems to be a waste. There are such nice products out there, but even
if you do pull something nice, you can't get squat for it! I pulled a Kovelchuck jersey
a month ago and was jumping up and down, I mean the titanuim retail checklist
was a huge list...I go to ebay and there are like 10 of them up and all are going
for 15 bucks a piece....and that is the best one???...out of 15 dollar retail packs??

I had a Sakic numbered to like 27 and I got squat for it. Isn't he one of the better players
in the NHL?? What would a Favre or Emmitt or Arod numbered to 27 go for??

If anyone out there wants to get rid of their baseball or football, I will trade you 200 dollars
book in hockey for 100 dollars book in baseball or football. LMK

Stalin-I'll take you up on that! I've got a couple of nice #'ed baseball cards. I don't collect much hockey, but why not start. Can ya get me a tradelist?
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
sure what do you have in trade? I have a lot of rookie stuff and jersey cards. I pulled a
Heatly auto from SP...I thought he was the ROY this year, but his prices don't indicate that LOL.
Let me know and I can get you a list.

    Thanks
    Kevin
  • very curious.. what sakic did you have that was #/27 and what did you get for it?
  • Where I am, hockey stuff moves almost as well as basketball, and their are a few caps fans who buy everything. I have no noubts I'll double my money on this bad boy.

The Sakic was from pacific heads up. the silver ones #ed to 27. beckett doesn't even price it! I
got a hill of beans for it! The prices for those jersey quads are a joke, you can't get even close to
that for them! I really like the last BAP that came out and was hoping to get a few packs, but my
dealer down here in Florida didn't get any for me.

I like BAP, they care about the customer. I wish I could of thrown some of my money their way, but
you just can't find the stuff down here!

I don't try to sell my hockey down here, that would be a joke, but even on ebay, I can't get a fair shake.
Do you guys get more for it at shows?? Im guessing you guys are up north?

    Thanks

I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Hockey doesn't move at all here, when Salisbury Sportcards was open(It closed last year) they'd have like 2 boxes of BAP, one on the shelve, the other for sale just as a box. They had gu'ed and some nice hockey autos they didn't sell, they'd just collect dust(literally).

Here's a couple of my nice #'ed cards...
2002 Fleer Fall Classic Championship Gold Robin Yount 25/50 BV-None right now, Fall Classic just came out last week.
1999 Fleer Ultra Platinum Medallion Chipper Jones 72/99 BV-40, nice card.

I dunno what the Yount will book for but it's a nice pull. One of the rarest cards that can be pulled out of Fleer Fall Classic.
I almost got a Torry Holt jersey #'ed 15/25, but the dealer wanted more in trade than I was willing to give. Welp Stalin, plmk if your interested in either or both. Thanks.
  • Selling at shows is really the key...just like WNBA stuff, it will sit untouched for hours but a few diehards come around looking for the stuff and they pay a solid 50-60% of book and premiums on patches.
