I love these coins! Beautiful rainbow colors with lots of appeal and pizzazz! The only problem is sooooo many other Collectors love these coins too. image

Oh well, I can enjoy the images though!

Pretty to look at but that pic is wildly enhanced. No original Indian cent has wild electric colors like that. I have seen shades of subtle lime green and purples, but nothing even remotely like that.

I don't know Dragon... check out his 1908 Indian... it's even wilder (!) and also see his colorful foreign stuff. The inserts don't look "off" in color.
I'm sure the lighting is highlighting the color, but the color has got to be there to begin with.

I wonder what these coins will close at?

    braddick,

The Frech coin looks realistic and is believable as dar as the colors go......his other Indian, the 1908, is also wildly enhanced. No proof Indians have wild glowing flourescent hot pink color. Either he used a 600 watt halogen spot light or just plain grossly enhanced the colors on those pics.

I believe those colors for the most part... my dealer had a PR65 1937 wheatie with quite similar colors (not under a halogen, but just regular flourescent lighting). Was $50... sort of regret not buying it, but I didn't really have the money then image

  • Hi, Just to calm debates, all of the coins you are referring to belong to me. I consigned them to Dick to run on my behalf. The colors are true to form, the Indian proofs are tough to photograph because of their mirror proof strikes, but these are all hand picked and I think Dick did an admirable job in trying to capture the true look of the coins. All of the foreign coins up on ebay listed by sgfx75a@aol.com are mine, and there will be more just like these in the next couple of weeks, were bought by me strictly on color and quality. I do not know that much about foreign coins and what is best to buy for rarity, I mostly tried to pick the most beautiful colored coins I could find along with PCGS graded quality. I really was hesitant in selling most of these along with the consignments I gave Mike DeFalco, coingame2000@aol.com, which are currently also up on ebay. My upcoming new position going full time to coins at Specturm Numismatics will limit my buying and selling of my personal holdings, so I decided to lighten my load abit prior to starting employment.

If you decide to lighten the load of Morgans in your "A" box let me know.image

Absolutely gorgeous IHC's, if you have any others you need to lighten let me know. image
  • My "A" Box was recently raided by a fellow board member at the Coin Fest party a week ago for 2 monsters, and one mega monster! Also 2 more of my nicely toned Morgans from my "A" box will be finding new homes in the upcoming Goldberg Auction. So enough is enough, the "A" box has the chasitity belt back on it locked in place.
To assist Braddick or any other board member, I would be glad to answer any questions about the consignments that are currently being run on ebay. Most reserves are very reasonable, but do take into account my costs and built in amounts to the ebay sellers assisting me in listing the coins. The toned Roosie set, the two toned IH cents, and the assembleage of the "darkside" world coins that are monster toned will be enjoyed by others, so GOOD LUCK! Dale

Wanted to say hello and give my opinion to this debate. I do the best job I can on taking accurate representations of the coins I sell. If you check my feedback (although not as extesive as some), you will see the glowing comments. I almost never get coins back....and if you think that the coins are enhanced then simply don't buy them. Check with several members of your board including Braddick and ask them if the coins that they purchased were misrepresented. I thank you all for your time and also would like to extend an invitation to anyone that has wonderous color coins to ship them to me so that they can get unbeliveable prices for superb color coins.

I've consigned dozens of rainbow toned coins to this seller always realizing top market prices....I've seen the coins in question -- that's what they look like -- I've also seen that many on this forum criticize coins they've never seen because "Coins don't tone like that...or, I've never seen toning like that..." Well, PCGS slabbed them as real, and I "HAVE" seen toning like that! Be a little quicker to praise and less eager to criticize....Perhaps, just perhaps, you haven't seen some of the really great toned coins that exist.....Check out the same seller's toned proof Franklins (1954/1961)....They look EXACTLY like the scan....I give him all the credit in the world for his ability to accurately photograph toned proof coins -- try it yourself if you think it is easy.
