why don't we make our own slabs?

I think it would be pretty easy-- two peices of plastic, a insert with your definition of the grade, something to make it air & water tight.
I know, I know, we send it off to be appraised by experts, yada yada. But the experts vary widely in the grades, get fingerprints on them, scratch them, etc. etc. I've seen a Jeff than was graded PCGS 63 or 65 on this board, but it had no steps!! (it was toned really pretty, though.)
I think if we did this, more folks would buy the coins Vs. the holders because we would have to learn to grade, and our grade would have to match the sellers before we paid 12,000.
As i stand right now, the only reason i would send in a coin to be graded is to have it attributed and make sure it's not counterfit. (of course, i'm still learning to grade the MS coins. up till 60 i'm right on the mark!!!)
As a pipe dream, what do you think?

you can imagine the debacle if authentic slab blanks fell into the hands of some unscrupulous person (alan hagar)...
2 Cam-Slams!
1 Russ POTD!
I'm sort of doing that already....but not quite. I have Capital Plastics make specialty holders for me and I've put my toned Morgan collection in them. The only ones I've not had the nads to crack out are my PCGS MS68 pieces......mama raised some ugly kids...........but not stupid ones!

Guy's like myself that don't do slabbing might buy the shells, just for protection and the uniformity.
They'd have to either snap together or have a glue that wouldn't affect the coins.
