AgentJim007's unopened, unmarked GSA up to $340 on ebay!!!

Yea, yea, yea. I know. It's a bit of self promotion because I sold him the piece. However, I'm really glad to see him doing so well with it....and there's still 16 hours to go.

Now all he's got to do is to collect from the high bidder!!image

GSAGUY

P.S. Someone please provide a linky....he's running a thread on the BST board.

P.S. If that piece is a Monster toned MS66+, hopefully I'll be able to buy it from the new owner.

I finally just paid off GSAGuy for mine that was ordered two months ago and I should have it tomorrow hopefully. I'm glad I got it out of Bryans hands before he saw the results of this auctionimage Hey, I've already made a $90 profit and it hasn't gotten to my home yet! Thanks Bry da GSA guy!! Scott

  • I don't know who the high bidder is but I kept bidding and kept getting the you've been outbid notice from 225 until 330. I just know that it is an 1885 CC MS67 DMPL with amazingly deep mirrors super frosty features.

I think that this auction has just ruined any chances of getting another one from GSAguy.

That's the attitude Cacheman!!! "I'm not opening mine so it can be whatever I want it to be". I like that.

I forget who it was that told me this, but one customer commented that he wasn't able to participate in the original sale because he just didn't have the money at the time. Buying an unmarked, unopened GSA today provided him with the same thrill that those who were able to participate originally must have experienced.

I thought that was kind of neat.

gsaguy, so in 1973 when people received gsa's they didn't know what they were getting, as far as year etc.

By the way notice I used gsaguy to address you. You revealed my name in earlier post.

Now all the women are stalking me and I don't know how to handle it!!!!image

I understand it was from pm's that we have exchanged.

OOPPPPSSSSS!!!! Sorry about that STMAN! Habit I guess.

In answer to your question, no, during the first sale they knew what they were going to get date-wise. That first sale was for the 'common date' coins of 1882, 1883, and 1884. These coins were sold in the "Uncirculated CC" category and the dates were stamped on the boxes and included in the serial number on the mailing label.

Later sales of coins from the "Mixed CC" category included coins that were not dated on the boxes and were sold at lower prices.

Again, apologies for the slip of the lip!image Of course, having all those women chasing you can't be all bad!

gsaguy, thanks I was curious as I have a 1890 cc gsa that came with the shipping box as a bonus and I think I remember the date being stamped on box.

    STMAN,

If you got that box as part of the deal at no extra cost, you've done well!!! I've seen the dated outer shipping boxes for the 79, 90, and 91 sell for $30+!!!!!!

For the record, those dated boxes would contain coins from the Uncirculated CC category. In other words, the coin is labeled as uncirculated as opposed to just saying 'silver dollar' on the holder.

    Good man!

Yes, It came at no extra cost. In fact I payed less for the 90 than the 91. And I didn't even know the original shipping box was coming.

Yes it is the uncirculated on the plastic.

The set that I have allmost completed I have made it a point to get all of them this way. Thanks for your interest.

    Odds are you're correct pontiacinf.

But then, many of the monster GSA dollars in my collection were once in one of those unmarked, unopened boxes. The best one I've personally bought right out of one of those boxes was a beautifully toned 85-CC. I paid $1200 for the coin!! Not bad for the owner when he'd paid about $1,000 for the entire unopened box of 5 pieces on ebay!

  • Could by any chance it be a 1889-cc? The mintage was over 100,000 and PCGS has graded
    a handful of mintstate examples.
    Say no to ACG!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the total idea of "unopened boxes", but unfortunately
with the exception of gsaguy, if anyone else said it
    were unopened Id say fooey!

same with the unopened proof sets. You need to find someone
like gsaguy and then you have half a chance.

But then again image who knows where his came from ?

its known as the "Numismatic Lottery"
