  • Man I'd love to have that coin.
I'd take my metal detector out on the beach next time I went to my condo at Indian Harbor Beach in Florida and really fake out the people on the beach.
I'd show it to everybody that came along and ask them if they had any idea what it was.
Man, there'd be people all over the beach with metal detectors in nothing flat.

ROFL!!!!!!!! That would be a good one. image

I actually have another one dated 1753, I picked up the pair sometime in the '80s and just rediscovered them a few weeks ago. Both have a nice look to them with plenty of luster in the protected areas.

I seen something like that on eBay. I think it was a ducat or something. It was dated 1697. I thought it was pretty cool but it sold for more than I wanted to pay, about $300.
Here's one of my favorites; it's chopped, it's toned and it's OLD!
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Gee Big Doggie - The way you described the coin , I was sort of expecting to see a plate of chopped liver from the deli. Bearimage

Hello, Rotated! Welcome to the boards. And don't worry about being ragged for your darkside tendencies. As ARCO points out, gold is cool. And your coin is very nice. I like how you can see on the obverse rim reeding, how it is twisted from rotation during the minting process.

Once again, welcome to our twisted world.

  • Thanks Dragon & 1jester but I have been o the boards since the new board came online last Feb. (2001) but I used an old handle I had since I first joined CU in early 1998 (before PCGS was part of them). So I just recently changed my handle to more accuratly reflect my collecting interests, since you cannot change your handle I had to sign up again under the new name I wanted to use.
