Fly Too High - The prize is getting to eat pine cones with the bear. Now isnt that a snazzy contest gift. Its a bit like having lunch with the president of the local Rotary Club. Bear

  • I hear ya Bear! Our pine cones down here in Texas are so big we peel off the scales and carve canoes out of the husks! They're tooooo big to eat! So, if I win, I guess the California variety of pine cones will be the grub? image

    Just my guesses,

    MS64 RD
    AU58
    EF40

IMHO the rub on the left wing of the SMS quarter and the flat top curl probably happened in the holder, but cost it points anyway.

I see there are already lots of replies, however, I didn't read them so that I wouldn't be swayed by them. I grade the coins as follows-
    1-MS64RB
    2-MS66
    3-VF30
I don't ever grade Trade dollars so I would assume I could be very far off on this one. Hopefully, I will be closer on the others.

    Tom,

What do you think the mark below does to the grade? Would it be pretty much ignored on a PQ coin?

I think Toms`alot closer on the 25c than me.I see it as a weak strike(64),but its PQ so,market gradeing probly says is 66-67.?

FTH-I understood they all were slabbed.Maybe I worded my last reply oddly, and took it as Just the Lincoln was Slabbed...uh Oh .I,m Turning into Fairlainman...image
  • PlacidPlacid Posts: 11,299 ✭✭✭
If you look back you can tell the quarter is graded MS66 that was already given away.

  • The toning on the Lincoln cent makes it appear RB to me.

Really,I,d think if raw(1c),it would be BB`d for AT or something. But does it look like doubling on the ONE CENT area?Maybe an illusion.

Question on the Lincoln everybody is calling gem: Abe's got some major hits............

the are on the coin you magnified is raised; it's not a cut; it's an extra small piece of metal that got stuck. Quarter has two small scratches on the eagle's leg and one by Wash. nose.

Gradres are 1967 quarter is MS66 (this coin is not SMS!!!!)
T$ is 1876-CC VF30 Doubled Die Reverse (noted on the holder)
Cent is MS63RB (a little dissapointing but I like the color

Hmmmm....I missed them all by one grade. You need to post better scans that we can grade from! image

I knew Tom was right on the quarter. But hey,In MY book ,a weak strike like that only deserves a 64.Is there a big market for gem 1967s?
I was right about the DDR,except it was the wrong coin.image
