I didn't get this weeks Numismatic News!

Has this happened to anyone else? I usually get it on Wednesday, but as of right now (friday night) I don't have it yet. What can I do to complain to NN to get this weeks issue? It really makes me mad because this week they published a letter that I wrote entitled "YN Programs Great." Thanks for your help.

I got mine today, but my subscription just started last week so I can't say when it might normally arrive. Not only did they publish your letter, they published one from Cameron and also had a story about your Best-of-show award.

If yours doesn't show up, PM me and I'll mail you my copy.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • I'm glad they put a story about my exhibit award. I thought that NN totally ignored the ANA exhibits when they didn't put it in last week.

  • Here it is (The NN editor shortened it, the original was around 50% longer).

    YN programs great

I’ve recently read the Viewpoint in the July 23 issue of Numismatic News entitled “Young Numismatists deserve ANA attention.” I disagree with the author’s arguments; we get plenty of attention.

I’m a 15-year-old Young Numismatist and a member of the ANA. I’m involved with every YN program the ANA offers. The ANA YN staff, headed by education director Gail Baker has been excellent. Not once in my two years of membership with the ANA have I had a complaint.

The ANA has given me a scholarship to their Summer Seminar, I had the opportunity to earn free, quality ancient coins through the David R. Cervin Ancient Coin Project and they’ve given me a chance to write articles for Your Newsletter, an online electronic publication for YNs.

At the ANA World’s Fair of Money in New York, I’ll be involved in many YN programs. I will be a page at the show, working for the ANA while meeting many important people in the numismatic field.

I’ll be at the YN Auction, an event where YNs bid on coins, books and other numismatic material with “play money” that we earn throughout the year.

Hopefully, in a few years, I’ll be an intern at the ANA. The intern program is a program where YNs go and work with the ANA during the summer.

I feel that without the YN programs through the ANA, numismatics wouldn’t be a hobby as we know it today. The ANA has bent over backwards for me and I will continue to support YN programs wholeheartedly for many years to come.

  • Good news, Numismatic News that is. Today NN came in the mail. I was suprised that they put my name in the headline for my exhibit, thanks NN.

I have never had a letter published. Do you think the paper has a bias against bears. image

    No bias.
They publish letters from everybody on all subjects. Try writing them a letter relating to the series of coins you collect. You'll have your 15 minutes of fame when you see it in the magazine.

Lathmach - Did you ever see a bear hold a pen in its paw? I can bearly type on my computer and I certainly dont know how to spell correctly most of the time. If it wasnt for the nice lady I am married to, I could not even dress my self properly. Bearimage
