Okay, Now grade these coins from across the street

cachemancacheman Posts: 3,118 ✭✭✭
Okay, I just told the sweet side of the story in my earlier grade me post. Now, if you could please take the time to grade these coins that I bought directly across the street from the first shop.

Again, I'll tell the story, the grade, and the price a while later.....it's like night and day. Scott

    The 79 is a ms 64 and the 80 is a ms 62. The 41 is a 50 cent piece.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

I agree other than I think the 41 is an MS64. It would be killer (nice thumb separation) if it was an "S" mint!

  • Walker - ms-64
    79 Morgan - ms-62 cleaned reverse
80 Morgan - AU-58 Just a little too flat on spots to make 60+

    65 - can't see why it would be 64
64 - toning is in protected areas, I'm giving benefit of doubt
63 - eye appeal bumps it up from 62
  • 1. Looks like dipped AU to me
    2. BB at PCGS (educated guess, but one I'd be willing to bet $20 on)
    3. Somewhere in that MS61-63 range, so given the date, doesn't really matter. image Looks like a pretty coin with the rim toning

Okay, here is another attempt at a scan of the 79 reverse. It still doesn't do it justice. There is no environmental problem. Unfortunately the scan doesn't show the full uninterrupted cartwheel lustre that shows through the transparent Blue, purple, and teal toning. The dark patches at 12:00 and between 6:00 and 9:00 are actually blue in color like what you see around the eagles neck...I just can't get the scanner to pick it up correctly. The two sides of the coin have different toning color schemes and therefore, make it difficult to get good color representation. Again, no environmental problems and full cartwheel lustre..

I just made a case to myself to pick up a digital camera......I can see my wife rolling her eyes alreadyimage. Scott

41-P - MS64 (REALLY hard to tell from the scan on this one. Might be dipped out AU).
    79 $ - MS64.
    80 $ - MS63.

Still 62 quality arriving in a BB. gmarguli's 64 must be his NGC grade, though they might even go 65.
