Topps mail-in promotion info wanted... and the reasons why :)

From Topps Pristine, I got base rookies of Pau Gasol ($25) and DaSagna Diop ($8)

And from Topps Chrome I got a Vince Carter Mad Game ($10)

Today, Aug. 14, what do I find in the mail? An 01-02 Topps Chrome Black Border Refractor of Antonio Daniels

So that's $43 in BV so far from my last round of mailing in those 3X5 cards, and there's still quite a few products to go (usually get one from each brand I send in entries for)... not bad for stamps, index cards, and envelopes... and YES I have gotten GU and autographs (nobody particularly great yet but there's always a chance)

Seriously, we should start a thing where we tell each other about the mail-in promotion details on the backs of Topps packs (that offer the same odds as the pack does per entry for inserts and SP's); we'd be helping each other get free cards... it's a good thing

what do you put on the card? like do they have a small mathproblem?

U.S. entries only need name and shipping address (no PO boxes I think but I'm not sure). Canadian entries do need to have the math question answered, but that shouldn't be a problem for most of us... I hope

You just send a 3X5 card (standard notecard) with your name and address (and a correct answer to the math question found in the entry information if you're a Canadian resident) to the address that's on the back of most Topps packs (some, like the Reserve products, might or might not have the promotion) That follows "For a chance to obtain any of the cards listed above, at the same odds...". You supposedly get the same odds at the insert/seeded subset cards as you do when you open the pack that you got the address off of, but sometimes the odds seem better than that

Did anyone try this with that expensive 50 dollar a pack topps tribute?? Im wondering if they gave those
expensive cards away for free?

Well I did it with Topps Pristine and got two (regular issue) rookies mentioned above...

I have obtained GU and autographs from other Topps products (never bought Tribute), so I don't see why they wouldn't do it.
As I said, some products (most of the Reserve ones) don't have a mail-in promotion for some reason, but I heard from somebody that Tribute did

If it's there it should be listed right under where the insert odds are given. As I said, some releases (like most of the Reserve products) don't have the promotion. It's strange that they would do it for Topps Tribute and Topps Pristine, their two highest-end products, and not do it with most of the Topps Reserve, Bowman Reserve, and the Topps Archives Reserve issues...

I wish the other card companies would follow suit on this... it'd provide some reassurance that they're not pumping inserts/GU/#'d rookies out the back door...
