Home PCGS Set Registry Forum

Frank is now at the top of the heap (was all along)

PCGS has added the weights for the Jefferson Nickels and the new sets with varieties.

I added my coins to the "with varieties" set, and am shown as #1 Current and #1 All Time!!!

This will be short lived however, as The Corso Collection will blow mine away once he gets his
moved over. The Wm Walser set probably will too, though I forget now if he has all of the needed
varieties. Still, it looks cool being shown as #1, even if mine is the only registered set...

I have noted a couple of problems with the new listings, as my basic set has moved from #7
to #5 on the All Time list. The Stockford set and the SP set appear to have incorrect totals, and
should be listed ahead of mine.

Anyone have a nice 1943-DDO (Doubled Eye) Jefferson so I can complete my varieties set?

  • I'm in and you're still safe for a while--until Corso goes up. Print it out now.

    Ken,

Congratulations on a very nice set. Enjoy the view from the top while you can.

As Bill and GQ have said, print it out now, and then frame it.

Countdown to completion of my Mercury Set: 1 coin. My growing Lincoln Set: Finally completed!
  • Hey Bill, just looked at your set...you are only lacking three coins:

1949-D/S, 1954-S/D and the very elusive 1943-D!!! image

You might want to check that out!

Once you obtain the two coins you need, your set will far surpass mine.

I've written about this before, but the 1949-D/S seems to be an anomaly; the population
is relatively huge (my MS65 shows as pop 122/24 higher), but these coins appear to not exist!

According to the pop reports, in Jan 2001 there were 73 MS65's and 14 MS66's. That is a lot to
begin with, but in the past 19 months it seems that someone or someones have made 49 MS65's
and 10 MS66's...that is a HUGE increase in the pop numbers, but you rarely see these coins for sale!
I looked for over a year to find mine. Can these numbers be real? Does somebody have a hoard
of these things, or do the numbers represent A LOT of resubmissions hoping for higher grades
    and/or FS designation???

By contrast, the pop on the 1954-S/D in MS65 is 21/0 and the 1955-S/D in MS65 is 26/1, yet these
coins seem more available and sell for less than the 1949-D/S...what's up with this???

While you are #1, you should PrntScreen, open Paint, paste & save the screen.

  • Thanks for the ideas guys...now what might pay is to talk Frank into keeping his set unlisted
for a week while I put mine up on ebay as the #1 All time set! How about it Frank? image
  • Ken:

I had already sent an email to BJ asking her to duplicate my set on the varieties. I'm not sure when the update will occur.

  • Oh yeah....number three All Time with varieties! That 1954 s/d must be weighted real heavy. Gonna be fun to watch this bloom.

    Enjoy your coins...

Congratulations on the set. Is the old saying true "it's lonely at the top"?

  • Corso bumped me out of third to forth......the nerve of these guys.....where are they coming from?
    NICKEL TRIUMPH...
  • No, it wasn't lonely as I knew Frank would show up soon! image His set is up now, but showing a couple
missing coins. I'm sure that will be worked out in short order.

Good luck on your set GQ - it's a long, fun and interesting set with those varieties!
