doleac to sign w/ knicks?, keon to visit magic, DC arrested again, christie on the block..

DOLEAC LIKELY TO SIGN WITH KNICKS
The Knicks flew out to Utah last week to meet with Michael Doleac, and watched him workout. Talks have been light at this point, but reports from New York suggest the Knicks have gotten serious about signing Doleac and a deal could be coming any day. Word has it his agent is looking for a multi-year deal for Doleac but the per year price may not be too high ($2.5-$3.0 mil per). Doleac is set to come to New York this week, and will likely ink a deal on the visit. The Knicks have also closed the door on trade talk, according to league sources the Knicks have cooled on talks regarding Andre Miller, and say Baron Davis was never an option. The Knicks may lure in Jeff McInnis as his options run out, but league sources say a deal for a point guard may not happen any time soon.

The Orlando Magic will bring in Keon Clark for a visit, and are hoping to wow him into making a deal. Rumor has it the Magic would not be able to sign Clark to anything close to his asking price without facing some luxury tax penalties. The current rumor is the Magic may be able to land Clark if they satisfy Jerry Krause and swap Jamal Crawford and a future first rounder for Mike Miller. It had been rumored that Krause and company offered Marcus Fizer and Jamal Crawford for Mike Miller, but the Magic would be unable to clear any room in such a deal. Because Crawford is scheduled to make roughly $2.02 million this season, and Miller is slated to make roughly $2.7 million, a deal with Chicago could create almost a million more to offer Keon, if Fizer is left out of the deal. Magic sources said last week they did not see anyway for Orlando to land Keon Clark, without moving off some salary, unless he radically lowers his price and no one beyond Chicago is interested in helping Orlando inprove their frontline.

DC ARRESTED?: Philadelphia 76er Derrick Coleman was arrested on Saturday evening for suspicion of drunk driving. After being pulled over, Coleman refused to take a breathalyzer and was taken into custody, a warrant was issued for a blood sample, and one was taken. Coleman was released on bail and will go before a judge. This is not Coleman’s first run in, and if you recall as a Charlotte Hornet he was involved in a car accident that likely cost Eldridge Recasner his career.

TRADING CHRISTIE?: Rumors have run rampant that the Kings can and should trade Doug Christie… admittedly Christie failed the Kings in the playoffs, but Kings fans are quick to point out Christie is the main reason the Kings got to the playoffs in the first place. In a serious conversation with a Kings source, the truth comes out about Christies future in Sacramento – Money – Christie and his agent squeezed the Kings for a hefty contract last summer because the Kings were fearful of losing Chris Webber, so they had to come to terms with Doug. This year if the Kings can improve by moving Christie they will explore it, but no one is eager to move Christie. Despite reports. The reality is Christie is the highest paid, expendable player, but like all expendable items do you spend, simply to spend? And in this case the answer is no- at least for now. I was reminded that Mike Bibby is a big Doug Christie fan, so you do the math.
