Experimental Commems from the Netherlands in the early 2000's


This 2006 Rembrandt Commem from the Netherlands is an example of one of more than a few high tech experiments that the Dutch mint was working on to make some premium coins. They see the coin in a new way, almost looking like it is etched in the design on the coin, rather than struct. The new tech was/is highly accurate and able to do things that older tech just wasn't capable of

    Very innovative and interesting. I can’t quite decide if I like it or not. I think maybe I do.

    What is that huge Dutch coin? My wife's Dutch and thought it would be a good stocking stuffer.
