Of course! And I'm sure many people have coins from that auction and don't even know it. Notice how everything was raw and unslabbed? With a 10% buyer's premium.

IIRC the consignor was upset that many coins did not bring what he paid for them. That's how depressed the market was in 1998. (Remember too that gold fell below $300 that year.)

Was he close to completing the entire series or is that impossible for anyone? I know there are 1000's of coins. I would be interested to see how close he came.

Parker had the connections and the money to put such a set together. It was complete for regular issues and known varieties. The coins aren’t as high-grade as McCormick put together though. But McCormick scoured the shows in the US and Mexico and didn’t buy solely through dealers. And he was able to pick coins out of the Parker sale for his collection (like the 1870 ZsYH and the patterns).

The only ones I see missing from Parker are the early (and illegal) 1830s Hermosillo issues and the Zacatecas legend error.
