Auction: ENDED

wondercoinwondercoin Posts: 16,972 ✭✭✭✭✭
Same auction terms as the last auction I had up this weekend.

I have (20) of the very first generation (tiny) PCGS slabbed Proof Franklin Half Dollars. The dates and grades are as follows:

1. 1958: PR64
2. 1959: PR65 (2 pieces)
3. 1961: PR65 (4 pieces)
4. 1962: PR65 (4 pieces)
5. 1963: PR65 (9 pieces)

The winning bid here wins all (20) PCGS very first generation (tiny) slabs. The quality of these coins is, overall, superb, but since these coins were likely "slabbed" around the late 1980's, most of the coins have developed varying amounts of haze, or slight haze. If the coins were properly "conserved", no doubt many would grade a point or two higher imho, but at $2.50/coin opening bid, "conserving" these coins is just not in the cards image

These are very neat collectible slabs though (being PCGS' very first generation type slab) and would make great gifts to friends and family.

I am opening the bidding at $2.50/coin with no reserve. Who bids $50 for the (20) piece PCGS proof Franklin lot? I'll also throw in free insured shipping anywhere in the US. Auction ends at 9:00 p.m. tomorrow night EST. image Wondercoin.

ALERT: WITH 2 1/2 HOURS LEFT IN THE AUCTION: If winning bid breaks $200, I am throwing in (5) more 1st generation slabs (1 more PR65 1962 Franklin and 4 more 1963 PR65 Franklins). That would be a total of (25) PCGS 1st generation slabs if winning bid exceeds $200 image Wondercoin

Not to be a pain, just want to head off some problems down the road, but aren't we in EDT instead of EST right now and then this auction would close at 8pm according to my NYC watch image ?

Current bid is $210 from Russ. OK, I bid $210.01 image

OK, I'll go $225. I don't even like Franklins, so if I win I'm going to melt them.

Greg. Thanks for the $225 bid.

Do you know what a melted group of (25) first generation Proof Franklins might bring on ebay!! What a piece of "modern art" that would be (except I do not think it is legal to deface US coins, so any "melting" would have to stop short of the coins melting) image Wondercoin.

P.S. Your "in" at the conservation company may come in handy here as well image
