  • Kyle et al - sorry I cannot get off work to get there friday but I am flying in on Saturday morning and spending the day. Planning to fly back out on Saturday night so it will be a pretty quick turn around.

hope to see some of you there.

It's at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center 5555 North River Road, Rosemont, IL.

Maybe we can all meet at a certain time by the door or something?

          Ken,

I'm gonna hold you to that.

          WTC,

          Thanks for the ground work.

        2. Two quick questions...I am going to the Chicago show because I live in the area. Since I have never gone to a show I have a few questions.
          Question one:
How do you get in? Just walk in? Is there a charge?
          Question two:
Do most dealers accept credit cards or is it cash & carry?
          Thanks in advance!

        3. windycity,

          Admission is $5

I use cash, most dealers will acceot checks if they know who you are.

          Kyle
        4. Kyle,
Thanks for the reply...trust me...the dealers do not know who I am...especially when I am buying high grade coins I use an old trusted dealer to do my buying and I pay him a 10% premium so that I don't waste my time...it is well worth the 10% to let someone else do the legwork...the coins I am currently collecting are high grade SLQ's that generally have POP's of less than 10 graded higher...in just the pst 6 months I have bought 4 SLQ's where the POP is none betterimage

          WCT,

This show is $5, but Central States is free. It's in St. Louis next year.

Your SLQ set sounds like it will be a real knock-out at those grade levels. I personnaly think the SLQ's, Mercs. and Walkers are the three best U S coin designs.

Windy - I used to collect SLQ and all I can say is WOW. Bear likes SLQs and likes people who collect them. Bear gives you a happy growl.

        7. To respond to several PM's at once:
the Stephens Convention Center is a 5 minute / $5 cab ride from O'Hare airport--- or if you choose the public transportantion goes directly from O'Hare to the River Road stop in 5 minutes and it is a very short walk (a couple blocks). It is in a "safe" neighborhood and easily accessible. Fancy restaurants are not plentiful unless you stay inside the hotels. I will send out a message tomorrow with where forum members may want to meet by Tuesday night.

        8. Here is the scoop on where & when to meet Friday in Chicago:
Hyatt Regency Hotel (River Rd. & Bryn Mawr Ave.) Garden Terrace restaurant at 2pm Friday.
The Hyatt is connected to the Convention Center by a walkway..it is the building next door...you can't get much more convenient!
We can either meet & go back to the coins or we can stay for a drink or two.
