Half Dollar strange looking

Need help on this. Found this coin in a half dollar roll and looks fake to me due to the edges. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Pounded rim/edge to be made into a jewerly piece or something similar.

More likely a chemical attack on the copper core. I've seen this before.
