Selling homemade penny fishing lures as a fundraiser. What you see in the picture is what you get- minus the lake and fish. Only shiny cents are used as the whole idea is to attract fish. Yes, they really do work.

$7 Shipped for the first, $5 each after that with no increase in shipping cost. PayPal, money order, check, cash, Morgan Dollar lures and first born child accepted as payment.

When you make these lures are you using just the pre-1982 bronze, or have you used the post 1982 zincs also? My guess would be that because of the easily corrosive nature of the zinc, and it's toxicity that you would not use the zinc ones.

If it's so toxic, what the heck is it doing on our coins and in our vitamins?

Zinc and even copper can be toxic if you consume them. Handling them has no effect, and in trace amounts they are part of a dietary requirement. Rush a kid that has swallowed a penny to an ER and you will find out why.

I think there is such a thing as maybe hugging the tree slightly tighter than is neccessary, although the premise is honorable.

I swallowed a lot of pennies when I was a kid.

Hell, if they're so damn dangerous, how did I make it to 60???

Well, FWIW, I do not recommend using the lures on yourself- or any other humans for that matter- but for the fish.

The cents used on the lure pictured happen to all be pre-'82 but I do use zinc cents as well. I set aside the shiny ones that I come across during bank box breaks. If for whatever reason you want it to be made of all copper, just let me know and I'll run 'em through a tumbler first to shine 'em up... no big deal.
