Does anyone have any info on this German Gold Klippe?

I've never seen one of these 10P restrikes before and wondering if anyone could shed some insight via info ?

Many thanks in advance!

I had one a couple of years ago and didn't get much for it. Anyway, it's obviously a modern piece. Struck in 1973 if I had to guess, but I'm sure we can get a definitive answer from someone else.

    Andy:

I think you are correct. According to Dirk, they were struck in the 1970's for a German bank to give to VIP's. Struck in .585 fine gold with it punched into the edge. These were the original dies and have the following spec:

    24.44 x 24.44 mm, 1.36mm thick, 9.92 grams.

What Larry says is correct. The last one I saw was about 10 years ago and I heard the same story then.

  • Yes, except ratios do not vary by country.

  • 585 simply means 585/1000 (58,5%) in gold content

14K gold is actually 58.333% in gold content.

So there is a tiny difference. But for all practical purpouses, they are equivalent image
