GOETZ: K.190 Abdication of Czar Nicholas II, 1917

K.190 RUSSIAN REVOLUTION, 1917,Cast Bronze, 56mm, 78.8g, R.

Obverse: Czar Nicolas II wearing a heavy crown sunk down to the nape of his neck. Inscription; “Der abgedankt Selbstherrscher”, The abdicated Emperor.

Reverse: A British Tommy, holding the torch of freedom, coerces the Russian bear to upset the Imperial Throne. Dated March 15, 1917.

    Hi cacheman, Another Gem.
    I know this is similar to another question from a previous medal!
    Why a British Tommy?
    I would have guessed American (again).
    Torch of freedom - more U.S. than U.K. Many in the U.K. were happy with
    the revolution, but no more than France.
    The U.S. were the first to recognise the new order.

    Anyway great medal!
