The Capture of Antwerp, Large Images!

I finally received the two Antwerp commemoratives from Germany and got this first one imaged and ready to show off.

This is an unrecorded Goetz commemorative for this 12 day siege to capture Antwerp.

Those are beautiful...but time for a stupid question. When you say 'unrecorded' what are you referring to? I imagine you are busy recording it right now and I can't imagine that anyone has more info on Goetz than you do now.

What can I say, that is just an amazing medal, the portrait is beautiful but the reverse is incredible!! The relief and detail is amazing.
I wish I could come up with some scholarly statements but when I look at it all I can think of is -WOW.

Cathy, "Unrecorded" means that neither Kienast nor anyone else has correctly attributed the medal to Goetz before now. It is Goetz alright, as evidenced by an earlier medal he made from 1908 and then he muled the Wilhelm obverse to create this commemorative. In his earlier years he took on commissions from medal companies to design and create medals for them. Since he essentially sold the design and his work to the company, he was not allowed to place his name on the medal as you would normally see. As it is 'unrecorded" I will be able to assign it a new Kienast/Goodman number now that I have the legal ability to do so...
