Anyone know any dealers who sell old coin books?

From my uncle's collection:

Standard Catalogue of United States Coins . . . 1945 . . .Wayte Raymond, INC.

Handbook of United States Coins 'Blue Blook' 6th edition 1948.

I would like to get some values, if any, on these.

We sold a 1946 Wayte Raymond in average conditoin for $15.00 to a redbook collector a while back.

They are. My Aunt died a few weeks ago and today we were clearing stuff from the house before it is listed for sale. These books were on the shelf in my Uncle's den.

I was the beneficiary of part of ajaan's uncle's collection, a while back. Don gave me some old albums of Lincoln cents and Jeffersons. His uncle had apparently built the sets out of circulation back in the old days, 'cause many of the early Jeffs were AU-UNC. In fact, I just pulled a 1939-S out of some leftovers last night- I think it came from him.

That was not the only cherrypick I made last night. I was goin' through a bunch of Wheaties and Jeffs that had been accumulated from three or four different sources and mixed all together, when I made a startling find. Quite possibly my best cherrypick to date! (See the associated Liteside thread).

I don't think the Grand Watermelon I picked last night from amongst the cherries (and pits) came from Don's uncle. I'm pretty sure it came from a bulk lot of Wheaties and other stuff I bought off BST last summer or fall, from a nice guy whose forum handle I can't remember offhand. I don't think he comes around here anymore, but if I track him down, he's gonna get a nice freebie from me in gratitude. (Even if the Great Cherrypick was not from his lot, his lot DID have a bunch of nicer-than-expected stuff in it. And he'd jotted pleasant notes on some of the stuff that was in 2 X 2 holders.)

look in the back of your Blue Book to see if price listed, as they are in the Red Book. I would do it, but too lazy to get up from my comfy recliner. You can also check the going rates on past eBay and half.com.

eBay is probably your best bet in finding prices, but I think they will be lower than you may get from a specialty store. I picked up a First Edition 1966, Coins of the World 1750-1850 by William Craig. This is a hardcover book with pictures of just about every coin listed with the "retail values" AND descriptions and history. Nice coated pages in great condition (after 40 years), and 750 pages big. Alot smaller and easier to get through than a Krause and the pages don't always rip on you. Got it for only $7.50 shipped!
