1964 Beatles card images needed for SMR article

Thanks to all of the 1964 Topps Beatles card collectors who have been in touch with me recently for the articles I am working on for SMR about those sets of The Fab Four. Your expert knowledge has been a big help.

The plan is for the first piece to focus on the three black-and-white sets (Series 1-3, card numbers 1-165) and the Topps Plaks from 1964. So, I am asking your assistance for more images from those sets only at this time. If you have some high grade examples of those b & W cards that you can scan (or photograph) and email my way in the coming days (deadline Feb 15th), I would be most appreciative. I will look them over and forward them to SMR for their feedback.

The keys to much of this is the crispness of the images and leaving an even amount of room (lets go with 1/2 inch) around the edges of PSA holders, so the graphics department has some flexibility in the layout process.

Other picture criteria info: 300 dpi resolution (again, images need to be clear), try and have the cards against a dark/non-distracting background, in a jpeg format with a file size around 800k to 1 MB, good composition.

I would estimate that I need 5 shots form Series One and maybe 3 each from the other two series of black-and-white cards. As for the plaks, one solid image should be fine.

If you have the time, cards and equipment to make it all happen, please send a "test" image or two for starters to me at: kozpro20@hotmail.com

Thanks again to all who have helped and will play a part in these Beatles card articles. I look forward to seeing your images with these issues.

    Doug,

I recently sent in some beautiful Beatles cards for grading, but they were returned ungraded. They were from the 4th and 5th series and I had no idea why they would not grade them. Another board member, whose name I forgot, told me that these cards were really made in the early 70s and NOT in '64 like the first 3 series. Can you give me any more info on this?

No, these are not Mint and they are not Topps, but that's all I have to show you.

    GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR ARTICLE!!!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I just sent in a first and second B&W out for grading today under the $6.00 special. I do not know when you need them by, but I would be more to image them when I get them back.

    Hello,

If it's the cards you have pictured that you are asking about, I think those were from 1964--just the OPC version. That year there were Beatles cards with sets from Topps-OPC and a set in England known as A & BC. As far as I know, they all generally look the same except perhaps for some slight color variations on the back and maybe other small differences. But from the front, as far as I know, they look the same between the sets.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you for your interest. It appears that we now have enough images for the Beatles articles.

I hope your Pops went well.
