Another Andy Skrabalak Thread

Not sure the Skrabalaks need another complement but....

Saw a lincoln online in a major auction last month, the image was weak but the grade was not. If the coin was nice it would be in the wheelhouse for my collection. I asked Andy if he could look at it for me and if HE liked it to bid up to X - which was the PCGS price guide listed value.

He viewed the coin and immediately emailed and said his reaction was "WOW" and he advised me to up my bid. So I upped my bid to 2X. Well, back and forth back and forth but 2X wasn't close and so Andy bought it with his money at 4X. Andy had zero obligation to send it to me, he even had the coin sold at Baltimore but held on to it so he could give me a shot.

No surprise I locked it away at 4X plus a reasonable fee for their work.

Was this extremely good service or has service just become rare? Either way, I'm feeling like I got all the benefit

Jeff
I'd like my copper well done please!

Andy is a very rare find in the coin buisness as well as in life. He is one of the very few people who is actually honest, thats alot more then I can say for some other dealers. He is always very straight up with me regardless of if I spend 5k or 0, I only wish I could buy more from him.

I never tire of reading threads about Andy and Alynne Skrabalak and Angel Dee's. They are quite simply the best, and deserve every bit of the praise they receive and more. Simply put, just good honest folks, and I'm proud to have them as friends.

That would be nice wouldn't it?

But in this case, probably not in the cards given grade assigned already.

Andy is one of the special people in the coin industry. Even though I've known him for years, it was only recently that we both went out for a nice dinner in Sin City. It reaffirmed to me about what a great guy he is.

I met Andy back when few (Stewart, Mike, myself, and a hanful of others) collected Lincolns and their price was 10-40% of the current market. Andy is not only honest and giving of his time he truly cares about the hobby and people in general. Although I sold most of my Lincoln collection back in 2000 I still talk to and most importantly I still consider him and his wife dear friends. Coins or life, I have never met anyone in the coin business that I would trust more than Andy.
    R. C. would be proud.

I tried, honestly. But somewhere between my crappy imaging skills and difficult to capture surfaces - my pictures are dissapointing and the coin's too handsome in hand to show those. Maybe I'll finally send some out.

I am in complete agreement! Few things are more beautiful than a fully toned, mark free lincoln.
