    Yes, interesting.

The most popular set I play in is the complete type set, which is pretty far down the list.

It looks like the most pouplar sets are those where the coins are readily available...

Intereseting yes, but is the info correct? I spot checked the 32 1964 proof sets and found only 24. Does this include sets which were registered and then deleted?

Interesting... With the exception of the Morgan dollars, most registry sets are modern coins. Why aren't bust coins more widely collected? Don't people like seated coinage?

You are implying that a series is only collected if registered which is not true. Perhaps the registry is the only reason to collect moderns for many.

Tom does make a valid point. With or without the Registry more common- say PR Kennedies, are collected than Seated material.

    -Could be the Registry.

    Could simply be economics.

On sets such as CS Ikes it would be interesting to see the distribution of the grades of coins registered vs. the population report. CS Ikes have 53 sets @100%--are most of the registered coins in the top 2 grades? Top 3 grades?

Can't collect what isn't readily available, maybe?? With bust coins as cheap as they've been (choice, original, VF bust dimes under $100 - probably worth $250), the specialists and die variety collectors must have at least 5 to 10 coins of each date, on average. For the rest of us, means slim pickings from dealer inventories, or chasing after new estates that come to market.

Better get those comfy walking shoes on, and start chasing after 'em!!
