I guess it's ebay's rules, but it would have been great if the auction started at 10 cents, the newsstand price at the time.

It's nice that they are giving part of the sale proceeds to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation -- but I find 1% to be a bit on the cheap side. Seems that donation is a marketing draw more than an actual donation to charity. Suppose it sells for $3 million -- they give $30,000 to the Foundation -- that's a drop in the bucket.

The U S Mint is feverishly working on plans for an Action Comics Commemorative as we speak.

Apparently there already is a 32 cent stamp so the Mint can follow the post office image

BTW, I ended up reading the comic through the screen shots.

Nice story of Superman. The story never really changes that much.

Must be nice to have a couple $ Billion in assets and be able to throw a $ Million like it was a $10 Bill.

From what I'm reading this is expected to go for $3 Million, maybe more, maybe less.

Spend it if you got it. image

What about 'First Sold'??? Given there were WAY more outlets selling this than the Kennedy gold, a 'First Sold at Rexall' should fetch another million!!!

As for the 'donation', I agree 110% with brg5658, in that this 'donation' is no donation...1%, and it's at $1.75 mil now, it IS nothing more than marketing, and is almost an insult, IMO.
    I'll come up with something.

just noticed the highest current bidder. 'Bidding activity with this seller' is 71%.......could bidder possibly be a shill to 'boost bids'??? Any comments, or am I way off???

Here's the Christopher Reeves Foundation 2012 Annual Report which says they received $2.2 million in donations for 2012.

Since the CCG Non-White pages went for $2.1M a few years ago, if this hits $2.2M then 1% will be equivalent to 1% of annual donations to the foundation.

It seems interesting that one comic will sell for the entire annual donation to the foundation. In 2012, the top donors broke down as follows:

    $1+ M: 1 donor
    $500K - $999,999: 1 donor
    $250K - $499,999: 4 donors
    $100K - $249,999: 9 donors
    $50K - $99,999: 15 donors
    $25K - $49,999: 14 donors

If 1% amounts to over $25K, this will be in the top few.

Not sure but this is a nice book and perhaps the best? The only CGC 9.0 WHITE PAGES. Is there any higher?

The only other CGC 9.0. I'd imagine the CGC 9.0 white is worth more unless the CGC 8.0 has attractive toning image
