1) Member since 4-28-14 2) The front label definitely looks a little off as far as proportions go. Also the font on "GSA" looks a little off. (Could be how they are meant to look though. I haven't seen a PCGS GSA slab in ages). 3) The coin itself doesn't look authentic. Especially the reverse! The eagle's breast is completely flat! 4) Not too sure about the mintmark placement and proportions on it either.
The 'GSA' looks to be much too high, at least in comparison to my example. It's the best I can do with my limited imaging abilities, sorry.
edited...blew it up so the comparisons to all aspects of the cert can be clear. If someone could put them side bu side, I'm sure more than just that one aspect would show. I'll see what I can do...at work now, so I could be awhile.
edited again....I also quickly noticed the font in the cert # looks to be a lot bolder on the ebay example than on my example.
<< <i>Crummy fonts....still, some sucker laid out over $500. >>
A sucker? I'm offended...
I messaged the seller letting him know I bid on the coin so an unsuspecting buyer would not win it and get burned because it's counterfeit. He messaged back and said:
<< <i>Thank you for letting me know. I'm sorry you feel that way. I will be getting with PCGS to get to the bottom of this. >>
<< <i>I definitely see what you mean now. I didn't even think to compare, but the GSA is way higher than the rest. None look like that at all on eBay.
Although I don't like that my eBay name might be besmirched on the forum, I appreciate that you guys checked that. I wish you would have just pointed that out to me early on. I would have pulled the auction instead of waiting for it to end. And good looking out! You saved me from a huge headache.
Now I have to see about getting my money back for this thing. I bought it for $200 at a yard sale. >>
The coin has that shallow look, very similar to the hundreds of others I've reported over the years. Plus, the thickness of the font is wrong on the insert. It wouldn't have fooled me.

i'm not buying, not that it matters. when i saw the 2 completely different set of images, i figured if the seller responded, we'd get some sort of nonsense and it appears we have. amazing what the patterns can tell us. .
you probably did and i can assure you i didn't post that to offset anything you said.
there is just really something bugging me about this whole ordeal and i just can't shake it and i keep holding back which really isn't my style. i would delve down into it here but there is just so much
conjecture/theory behind it that it just seems pointless since we/i won't get the issues that are bugging me addressed and the issues have nothing to do with the posters in this thread, just strictly
the seller and that item. i guess all i'll say is, i'd really like to hold that 80-cc in-hand and/or image it. .
Did not know that PCGS prints a GSA origination on its own label. It does seem odd that somebody would want to break the GSA holder since they carry a premium and instead have it graded and feedback of 1 .
How much extra does it cost to get the GSA printed on label?
Guess they dont have a special label made for it like NGC does and keeps it in issued holder.
Also what category did you use to report this one to ebay.

I'd say it's a fake.

what do you guys think about the position of GSA on this holder?
the position of GSA it seems will probably vary from generation to generation.

1 - do you mean insert, or are you referring to the sticker/seal they put on the gsa slab itself?
2 - there are 2 main ways and several sub-ways.
main a - link - you can download the image to use in the future if you want.
