Posted to darkside as well, found this ICG slab I got back in the mail interesting.....

Apparently this is the way ICG holders British contemporary counterfeit halfpennies:

For the record, I marked 'Non-Regal' on the submission form so they really weren't telling me anything I didn't already know (I doubt this could easily be mistaken for a genuine halfpenny of the Realm when instead of George III the legend reads GREGORY III)

Interesting - a construction zone look.

Wouldn't mind having my contemporary counterfeits holdered but don't think that will work for me. image

"For educational purposes only" I think that is a great idea. I actually have a counterfeit from that time frame (no images, never thought I'd need them....maybe a cent, but it has"GLORIOUS", should be "GEORGIUS"..[sic?], where the OP's 'coin' reads "GREGORY", I am 99.99% certain), so I'll have to give that a go, see what happens. It's got my interest piqued, now, maybe they can give more info than I could dig up on it. Thanks for posting this, SS!
    I'll come up with something.

I've seen a couple of the vintage counterfeit (micro-o) Morgan Dollars slabbed that way, with the VAM numbers on the holders.
  • I like the different languages on the yellow label stating it is fake. It leaves no doubt and is a great idea.
