GTG and O#....Bust half- Round two, New pics are up !Grade Revealed...
Grade is.....NGC 35 !
This is my 13th 1808 die variety/state...just four more to go !
On this guess the grade, I was thinking of having everyone guess with my pics, then sending it to Lance and having a second go with his !
And here they are, fresh from Lance Keigwin...he really knows how to capture bust halves !

It could be in 40 or 45 plastic depending on what day of the week she was graded.
08's are a great year to put together a variety set.
I'd be happy to shoot it for you, jayPem! I love looking at these beauties.

10 marriages, 7 additional die states listed in Overton 3rd...

<< <i>I'm away from my books but I'll guess it is an O.109. The die crack under the 0 in 1808 is memorable. 45 sounds about right. If it's a 40 go for a "reconsideration". Oh wait...that's an NGC coin.

Lance has special powers.
Attributing CBH's without his book....awesome ! This one has most of the listed die cracks for the a model, so that's what I'm going with, O-109a.
It's on it's way to Lance's camera, so I'll post his images when they're up !
I think it deserves XF and would cross it before 1/1/13.

<< <i>I couldn't possibly memorize all the die varieties. I just remember looking at that one recently. >>
Still...it's impressive, especially since that crack looks alot like the one on the much more common 102a, as Harveypb guessed.
i'll gtg - details scratched

Could be...but as you know, scratches abound on early stuff.
Plus, the way they often pop out in macro pics doesn't always represent the
reality in hand.
That said, there is a scratch....
I like it as a 50. Generous today, I guess.
Great coin.

NO! NO!
For me its 45 versus 50.
Do you think NGC market graded it for the slight scratch? It is barely noticeable in hand, and as you say the TPG's are more forgiving with these old coins.
I still think getting it in PCGS plastic is a good idea. I'm torn between a cross and a crackout.
