Newp: 1830 Bust half (w/grading poll)

lordmarcovanlordmarcovan Posts: 43,671 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just scooped up this Bust half. I'm shooting more for eye appeal (and CircCam contrast) these days than technical grade. But feel free to assign it a technical grade in the poll, if you desire. Opinions welcome.

    Great CircCam look.

    25 is my WAG.

For the record, I said VF20. Mind you, I don't have it in hand yet.

She's a freakin' beauty!! I was thinking 25- but no matter the technical grade, she is a great looker with lovely toning...
My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable !
  • I love the nice, even wear, and the toning is just right. No distracting marks, splotches or scratches. Eye appeal, for me, is A+++++++.
Let's try not to get upset.

I'm thinking 30/35. Looks like the later die state may be responsible for the weak rims, still alot of detail in the hair and feathers, claws, leaves etc.
    very sweet !
  • I think you guessed correctly at VF20.

That has a lot going for it. Love that circ cam look too, Lord M.

    Nice pick up!

I like it as a 25/30. Nice coin. Gonna look great in the 7070.

I have no clue on the series...but voted 30...I see I'm not alone. image
  • I am in the 35 camp. Though I could see it as a 30, but I could see the grading services giving it the benefit of the doubt for having eye appeal. Thing is it seems like the services have tightened up even more, so you never know til you try.

As a raw coin, I would just call it VF. And it is an O-122 large 0

    Nice 25
Even the rims look great for a coin in this grade range.

The coin is now in hand and my first impression upon taking it out of the envelope was, "Dy-No-Mite!"

It looks terrific. If anything, the grey toning is a tiny bit darker in hand, thereby enhancing the black-and-white CircCam contrast.

This seller ("Legacy Coins") is gonna get glowing feedback from me. Not only is it a helluva nice coin, but he worked with me a bit. I saw it on eBay in a fixed price listing, and was fully prepared to pull the trigger for his asking price, but on a whim, I decided to very tactfully approach the seller and ask if there was any wiggle room (not a lot, you understand- just a little). Even though he didn't have a "Best Offer" feature on it. He told me he'd knock fifteen bucks off the price and added a Best Offer function to the listing so I could offer that amount.

Great coin, smooth deal, and an accomodating seller. I wish all my transactions went down this way.
