[Pre-Poll] - Should the US Mint Sell 1 2010 Numismatic National Park 5oz Silver Coin per day or all

Instead of putting this in the monster thread or the pre-thread,

I made a pre-poll pre-thread instead.

We know what it's like when the mint sells something hot. Their systems are slow.

Sell 15000 sets and the rest as individuals similar to how commems are handled.

Prior to release the Mint should have a subscription period. Maybe a couple of weeks. If the item is over subscribed, they could do sales by lottery. The BEP has done this. Works fine and it's fair for all. Mail subscribers would have the same shot as a web user.

poll updated, but thisi s what the mint has to say about under what law they were made:
The numismatic coins are being produced under authority 31 U.S.C. §5111(a) (3), which provides the Secretary of the Treasury with broad authority to design, produce and sell numismatic items.

I'm not really sure if selling them on 5 different days is going to help all that much. It'll just make things bad for 5 days instead of one.

I'd like to see a mixture of sets and individuals.

I originally was going to just buy the parks that really have meant something to me, which would have been 3 this year and 2 next, but instead had to buy them all. Ok, I now have two sets, one for each kid. While some may want them all I think we are overlooking the interest these will have for people that just want certain ones. People that don't hang out on this site. In fairness I think they should be released seperately on 5 different days. That said I'll be in for all 5. Luckily I can now afford them all, most can't, and to me the Park idea was to make the Parks available to all, even those and especially those of limited means. I do believe the coins should be the same way. It is such a shame that this first year has so many memorable, well visited parks and so few coins. While for us "coin enthusiasts" this mess may end up being a good thing, for all the good this program could have done this has been a waste of possibility and potential.

Choice #3 is "individually"? Choice #7 should have "sub-choice" (same day).

How about they release then all at one time, then limit one coin per household.

I think I'm with you...I can't take more of the insanity but I can't tear myself away from it.

If they do, the only way should be as a set on one insane day (that I can take off work!).

if the choice includes some sets and some individuals....

I'm going to leave it as either:
Sell some sets, some individually all on the same day (1 day)
or
Sell the individuals first on separate days, with some amount of sets all on separate days (6 different days, 5 individuals + 1 set)

In my opinion... There should have, first, been a "Can you afford 1, 2, 3, 4 or a whole set?" poll. The current poll is, without a doubt in my mind, biased!

unfortunately the single poll format of this forum doesn't have the robustness to formulate multi-part polls.
