My 2010 Proof ASE's are Cratered... and other various distraction issues...

5 of them have this condition in progression from slight to what you see here in the exact same location...
It's like a chunk has been scooped out... what could cause this?

...and it looks like they've recycled the packaging... what mint product was Z96

<< <i>Interesting...5 of how many? >>
5 of 10
but I can tell you the 2007 ASE Proof was Z76 and the 2008 ASE Proof was Z86
adding 1 & 1 ....
(They've been recycling First Spouse packaging for at least the past couple of years)

if it is on 1 I'd suggest a hit, on 5 in the exact same place? My guess would be struck through something?

So what you're saying is 2009 Proofs WERE struck??

The labels were, and he's got a first strike on them!
<< <i>Is it even that visible to the naked eye or are you just unhappy you won't be getting 70s? >>
would you want to buy them?

I know just where it is: on the eagle's left claw. It's definitely large enough to be visible to the naked eye. Notice in the first photo that it is half the height of the initials.
I am suspect it may relate to the ejection process or some other common event.
I had several hundred Marine dollars where 50+ had the exact same type of hit, each in same location on each coin.
It involved one batch but then didn't appear in later or different groups of 100.

Just the opposite, the ones with the Z(^ labels would go for a premium...you'd be buying the label...

Negative BST Transactions:
i noticed about 30% had some type of "cameo spot" ie shiny dot on the sheild, all in the same place, others had cameo imperfections and 8 or so had the beginnings of spots on the mirrors, rest had rim nicks, minor marks on mirrors.
all had been relabled to PS 1.
the trival oddity was findng a cracked and chipped half-capusule inside one individual box.
most of these don't seem to be as fully struck??
