My FUN trip with a few pictures

We arrived at the Convention Center around noon Thursday to meet up with Ken and Mark in the Heritage Legacy Room, they are the owners of the Midwest Mirror collection currently residing in the Registry. We viewed each others collections and compared notes with Ken noticing that he had owned my 1890-S 64 DMPL at one time.
The Bourse floor looks huge looking down from the Legacy Room.

Heading down to the floor we made our first stop at Don Rinkors table. I picked up a nice 1887 MS65 DMPL to upgrade my 65 PL before I turned in the Key West Collection to PCGS for pedigree. Don had some killer PL and DMPL's in his case including a very nice 1893 61 DMPL and 1897-O PL, both coins are very rare with mirrored surfaces.

I stopped and talked with Archie Taylor, President of "Rollieshobos" the original Hobo Nickel Society and watched Keith Pedersen carve out a Hobo.

I ended up buying this Hobo from Keith, he does nice work.

I met up with Todd and his Dad Roger at Charmy's table and looked at some very nice purple Indian Cents that she had in her case.

Todd took one of his many breaks and we went over to Eagle Eye Rare Coins and checked out the Carton Collection that was out on display. He had just finished shooting this incredible set of Flying Eagle and Indian RD Cents. To see collections like this in front of you makes coming to coin shows so much worth it.

Headed over to the Heritage table and noticed this gold 2.4 mill. Mickey along with the Steve Ivy bobble head.

I wondered over and talked with John Agre of Coin Rarities and looked at the AU 8 Reales he had sitting in his case. It is always nice to meet the Forum members in person when you get a chance.
Off to PCGS to submitt the 116 Morgan PL and DMPL Key West Collection for pedigree, it has been a long way coming. Their customer service was of great help with submitting the 6 pages of coins.

That night my wife and I shared dinner at the Fish Bone Restuarant with Todd, Roger, Ken, Mark, Jon, and Arlene. We had a fun time talking coins and listening to some good storys.

Friday we headed off to the PCGS Luncheon. When we came up to the table to check in, BJ Searls handed out one of four birth year Lincoln's to everyone. When we got in they had a contest so see who could put together the four different Lincoln's that were given out. The first five who could do it won a prize.

The food was very tasty along with a nice dessert tray of goodies.

Don had a lot to say about how PCGS is expanding their horizons. David Hall talked about Coinfacts and the inquisition of research going on with the top numismatist of our time. You could see that he is very dedicated to this and has made it a lifelong project.

Saturday we headed out to the Kennedy Space Center and took the bus tour to see the Space Shuttle. They are planning the Shuttles launch February 9th with the 6,000 tickets being sold out in 10 minutes at $60.00 a piece. Here are a few pictures I took and I would recommend the tour if you haven't already taken it.

I am already looking forward to next years FUN in Tampa and I hope the weather will be back in the 70's during this time.

As for that photo of the PCGS booth, I'm thinking Mr. Smith and Ms. Bolivar (and Ms. Tran) appreciate their brief exposure to forum fame.

Sure appreciate you sharing the photos and a bit of the flavor of the show -- but also the other wonderful parts of going to FUN that don't exactly involve coins, like friends, food and playing tourist.
