Wow! some nice looking coins there, like the 81-CC especially. I'd get them out of that album however, those old whitmans can tone them black pretty ugly on edges.

The 1880-O might be an MS64 and the 82-O is leaning hard to be an O/S coin. Sheesh.

    Nice well-matched set!
  • Nice coins, Great get. Bad storage. Don't be afraid to lightly dip a few of those puppies for preservations' sake. I'm sure that will start an avalanche here form t he purists, but why penalize a great batch of coins because Whitman didn't understand coin storage.

That 80-O looks like it could be NICER than 64. I definitely want to see some better pictures of it though.

    great coins!!

definitely DO NOT dip these (sometimes a coin needs a dip - yours do not!!).

  • Funny how everyone likes the 1880-o. My eyes opened wide for that one, too!

    Great set.

    Let's see the other books...

I like the 1880-O as well- there is alittle flatness to the strike. While it is attractive, it will likely grade 63. There is a fairly significant spread between 63- 64 and 65

    nice set

  • Very nice coins. The collector who put them together obviously had a high level of interest and high standards.

  • Seeing some 62's, 63's, 64's, and even a one or two that could be good enough to be 65.

    Good going!

The three early O mints are especially nice. And tougher dates as well.

    Congratulations.

Very nice Morgans, I personally would NOT dip any of those, if you want to stop or slow down the toning remove them from the album.

There is no "AT" or "NT". We only have "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable.

  • << <i>What VAM is the 8TF ? It looks like 14.1. >>

    yes. 14.1A

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

I've taken everything out of the albums. Given each coin an acetone rinse. I like the old album. Didn't like the plastic slides going back and forth over the coins. I might send a few in for grading.

I usually stick to scans, but here are some attempts at pics.

The 81-CC image looks like it has huge hits on her face. It doesn't.

Strong group of original coins. They need an acetone bath to remove what looks like PVC though.
  • Nice coins,Norm. The 1903-O looks like a Vam 16A,Wow! tough one to find.
