My '09 2nd lincoln finds comments plz 5 pics
1st we have 2 coins with the same gouge in the C from cents on the reverse. one has a bag mark and one don't as noted in the pics.

2nd we have a new die break in the book Lincoln is reading kinda looks like a sideways bookmark.

3rd we have a die chip in the hair of the obverse lincoln just above the ear.

4th and finally we have young Lincoln with a "CHIP on his shoulder".

These were all found in 1 roll of philly mints I received from the mint in a mangled box from my order of 5 sets. I will check out the Denver mint roll tonite.

.............that's mint quality, kris.
to the rim.
<< <i>I just check the 4 that I have two have chips on the shoulder with the chip out of the C in Cent one has a die crack from the top of C in America
to the rim. >>
I just checked mine again and no die crack like that on mine. I did however notice a die chip on the book similar to that of the ones on ebay as the bookmark die chips, these are on the coins with the gouge on the C in cents. Not the same kind of bookmark as I have pictured.

The name is LEE!
You may also want to check out the Liberty on the Obverse as well.
I have a number of die cracks there
HOWEVER, I do think its of note that these were not taken so seriously before the Mint Rolls started arriving.

Yeah it is fun looking for these. and finding some. I think we all saw how excited Yaha was with his discovery on the C in cents. Maybe just maybe these will be a little more fun to search through, even though some snicker at them, these kinds of varieties are out there for all of us to find. Please keep posting your finds on these new cents everyone.

I am by no means a die scholar like some folks here, however there doe appear to be a pattern.
On those coins that have the cud on the log, the probablility is great to also have die breaks on the Liberty on the obverse. Liberty on the obverse, also happens when there are little or no die errors on the reverse.
Those coins that have the cud or die break on the C, I have yet to find the cracks on Liberty on the obverse and YES, I have about 15 of those as well.
Can someone tell me if this means there is a die pattern or rather a different set of dies???
Just like yours.... it too came in a mangled white box that was already opened when I got it.
There is also an issue with Abes left thumb.
For example look at all the BIE cents, they tended to crack in the same area and mostly in the 50s but it continued to a lesser extent on modern cents in that area.
Cracked skull lincolns also show up on certain years and still modern ones often have cracks in the hair.
On wheat cents they often have cracks that surround the VDB on Abes shoulder.
On memorial cents they often have chips on the memorial pillars and cracks from the buildings corners to the rim.
The reasons for this are stress areas on the die, the slight changes in manufacturing or in the quality of the material used for dies makes certain years show different trends. Most of it is within the normal QC standards, when the cracks get bad enough or an area breaks off completely they retire the die.

Interesting, and of these cracks, are a majority, a so called variety?

OR, they in a hurry to make a buck on the cheapest quality possible.
The rolls I have cracked for both types did have some spots, however a majority were almost proof like in their brilliance
<< <i>WOW. that thumb looks pretty phat. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone. I am just excited with something new to look for and I think we all should. Well maybe all of us that really like errors and such. I too like ms70 coins also. But that seems to be impossible with these. I am not an expert by no means and never will I claim to be. I'm just enjoying a new coin. >>
Can you imagine what a PF70 much less a MS70 would go for?

One could only dream. Not with they way these coins are being pumped out. Realisticly maybe a ms67 with one of these type problem coins would be nice.

It aint going to happen.. If you want a chance send them in at the Modern Level... Again, I submitted 2 blazers with die chips, no hits, no nasty spots, just a few small outer ring marks.
The coins came back MS65 MS 64.. I can't wait to get them back to see if they were they same coins I sent in. I do photo image everything I submit, I have to do this because of another TGP losing my expensive submission years ago.. They said they found it but it wasn't my coin..
Furthermore, If they are the same coins, I am going to send them off to another retired grader I know and see what he says. Lastly they were prooflike beauties.. Still scratching my head about the grades..
Remember before the Dogs come out, I trust PCGS and that's why I sent them to them, and in no way accusing lack of judgement, I wear glasses and use my 10x/20x loupe.. I have heard loupe are misleading if you don't have enough sleep before you view a coin with it..
I love ya PCGS though. I paid for your opinion and got it..
the photos seem to show the spots better than the human eye sees them for some reason.

Looks like an extra high leaf to me. Must be that wisconsin dude up to his tricks again
