Considering that the barrier to entry in the self-slab certification business is essentially $100 or so (for the plastic cases and labels), $50k seems a bit steep.
I don't believe this is the same company that Mr & Mrs Hagar have....
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector. Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
Winning Bidder is required to make a $250 deposit within 48 hours of the close of auction, and the balance due via certified bank check within 14 days.

This struck me as funny.

That's funny, they sold it on ebay around last Sept. The link is dead but still shows the title and date. I think it sold for about $100K. Maybe the buyer is trying to unload it again.

It's been for sale for a long time at various BIN prices.
The current auction looks like it had an 'offer'. Somehow I do not think it was a serious offer.
I think that if the person selling this business would only show more of their physical assets, they would have better luck. As it is, i'm not seeing much actually offered for the price asked.
Now all I need is a stack of coin world slabs and I can sell my own company too.

You are correct - it's a different "grading service."

They shoulda called them selves AAAAA Coin Grading Service -- then they'd be at the very top of the list!

Added: Maybe it did not sell last time and this is the 50% off sale?

That buyer will have to consider himself very lucky is he recovers any part of his $100K.

Well, the shipping is free, so it sounds like a pretty good deal.
