My Orion MicroXplore handheld digital microscope arrived!

I ordered one of these after someone did a post about it the other day...here's the link to the site that sells them:

MicroXplore PC200

As promised, here are some samples. It does a decent job, but it's very hard to keep steady. It does have a stand, but it's not so great...I think one could be made easily that will work better (from a microphone gooseneck or something similar). It also only works at two focal lengths, 50x and 200x despite the fact thatit's supposed to zoom. I had to play with these images to get them to look halfway decent. I think I am going to keep it- $129 for a scope that takes even halfway decent pictures is worth it to me...

Very nice pictures! I have a quick question though. How much would an 1894 Indian Cent Snow-1 RPD, just like the one you have, in fine be worth? I just found one the other day....

Not sure...the one in the photos is ANACS G-6. I paid about $20 for it on eBay. Congrats on a nice find!

Cool device, and a decent price. I think the pics came out great, in time, in time.

    << <i>Adjustable magnification: 10x~50x, 200x >>

From their website: It looks like the zoom is only for 10-50x and once you get to 50 the only thing left is 200x.

is it at all possible to get a good picture of the whole coin?

I don't think you can...the pic of the '52-D/S Lincoln cent is about as far out as you can go...

Resolution is only 640x480, so you're not going to do full coin shots with it, but it looks like it does quite a nice job on date varieties, VAMs, etc. Would be worthwhile for those who don't have an SLR and dedicated macro lens.
