Glad I was able to get one of these. Plus I promised the seller I'd mention their store. He's not coin collector or dealer.

I think it is about an ounce of silver plus a little gold
  • I dig the reverse, not too crazy about the obverse though. Doesn't really look like Bob Marley.
  • Silver and Gold I guess I should have takena photo of the box and certificate as well. Mintage limit: 5000
    Diameter 38.61mm

    weight 28.28gms

    .925 ag silver

    .958 au gold

    British Royal Mint
  • I bought 5 of them from the Bank of Jamaica (that was quite an experience)

Sold 3 on EBay and kept 2 for myself.

Now if I could only find one of the 50th Anniversary gold coins for a reasonable price I would be a happy camper.
  • The reverse looks like something MadMarty would like! image

Cool looking coin, but I think they should have put gold on the reverse as well.... image

Bob Marley coins issued by Jamaica and minted by the British Royal Mint:

    1995 (50th year) $100 gold with mintage of 2,000
    1995 (50th year) $50 silver with mintage of 30,000
2005 (60th year) $50 silver (gold layered portrait) with mintage of 5,000

Something about the reggae rhythm that evokes good times and great fun! image

  • Love the shuckins! I don't think I could afford it if I could find it.

The 1995 silver with 30,000 mintage does not cost that much (although it probably has been driven up a bit by the 2005 price). The gold usually goes for about $500 and up nowadays (because of the high spot + demand).
