one thing the Logan-McCloskey text does not mention about this die marriage is that in later die states, the crack on the obverse that starts from the vicinity of star #7 actually extends through star 8 and into the dentils there too! I have a later die state coin that illustrates this and have some QX5 pictures to share. Interestingly, this coin came from the collection of Russ Logan. He must have obtained this coin after publication of the half dime book. If anyone has a later die state, I'd love to see it!
Photo 1: Thick crack from rim through star 7 to cap Photo 2: A "dual crack" continues into the cap Photo 3: A single crack evident again, much lighter, continues through the cap Photo 4: A very fine crack goes from the cap, to star 8, and to the dentils (may be barely visible in photo, but it is there)
