Acetone - Tape Residue Experiment

My son got this from a $1 bulk bin with all this tape residue on it. I searched and although there are tons of acetone and a few tape residue threads, not many had pictures left, so figured I'd share my experiment. I don't plan on becoming a doctor of any sort, I simply wanted to make his coin more enjoyable to him.

I used Acetone from Wal-Mart and a Pyrex dish with just enough in it to cover the coin a little. I did this outside, swished the solution around a few times over a span of 10 minutes. Took it out with a gloved hand and let it dry on an old t-shirt of mine (100% cotton) <I did read all the suggestions before I tried this>

Anyhow, in case there was any doubt it works fairly easily, here's the before/after and my "Supplies".

Thanks! I've got an Ike ($1 at the bank) with what seems like electrical tape bonded to it, and will post results in a couple days after I can get some acetone.

But I guess I'll have to just live with the other Ike the tellers didn't want: it looks like it was electroplated with graphite!
