Hypothetical: TPGs only label coins from the sets as First Strike!

...Singles purchased separately cannot qualify.

While I think the First $trike label is a load of crap foisted upon the investor/collector community by the TPGs to $kim more money from us, if there is a market for Frist $trike and if the TPGs reserve this designation for coins from the sets only, then there is still a huge upsell market potential for the 2-coin Unc. W-mint burnished sets, IMHO.

No?

imageOK, so maybe I'll buy them back, but only if PCGS puts it writing that any Set-based GAE/SAE combo is designated as FS.

The Singles can be purchased beginning with the Sept. 28th catalog and according to the Mint's web site, the sets will begin shipping 10/6/2006. Anybody regret cancelling their 2-set orders yet?

what's mind boggling to me is why the he11 anybody would even WANT "1st strike" of any coin, on just the basis of strike emission alone. frequently, the very 1st few strikes off the dies are some of the worst of the 1st bunch of strikes, until the dies are "broken in" AND until the die alignments/spacings, etc are fine-tuned. freshly polished dies often have remaining on them lint, rinse residue, machine oil, etc., which can impede the quality of the strke until the dies rid themselves of the contaminants.

seems to me the 2nd round of strikes or later are the better batch to own.

That's funny... 2nd time I've seen the word foisted in the last 12 hours. I think that's an SAT word imageimageimage
